To explore and deconstruct the characters using MBTI as a basis and connect seemingly unrelated observations to convey my ideas. The focus is on the process rather than the outcome. A fellow INTP here.
My original intention was to create characterisation possibilities established by logical, or abstract, reasoning in order to solidify my "facts" before writing fics, and of course, considering the boundaries of possibilities are endless in my head, there is more researching rather than actual writing. Here, I post some relevant information, sometimes applied to associated cases. Primarily BBC!Sherlock.
Note: I am applying the MBTI theory to fictional characters instead of the actual method of the person choosing their preference. It’s really all just speculations based on personal interpretations, YMMV. I am only using it as a foundation to construct on. Please be aware that the types does not define the person.
ISFJs have a difficult time leaving a relationship which is bad, or accepting that a relationship is over. They tend to put all of the blame on their own shoulders, and wonder what they should have done to make things work out. If they have been loyal to their vows and have done their duties, they will be at a complete loss as to what went wrong, and will have great difficulty accepting the end. They are “true blue” lovers, and may even remain faithful to their deceased partners. -personalitypage
ISTPs are good with their hands and often mechanical. They are typically attracted to hands-on hobbies like woodworking or crafts, and may be found tinkering with bicycles, computers, cars, or household appliances. They often have an intuitive understanding of machines and a remarkable ability to fix things. ISTPs have an appreciation for risk and action, and often enjoy thrilling leisure activities like extreme sports, motorcycling, or weaponry. -personalitydesk
I think if I watch a gif set for literally five minutes, it’s time to reblog it and move on.
Protective!John is so sexy.
ISFJs are characteristically humble and unassuming, and rarely call attention to themselves. They can often be found offering assistance to others in a modest, understated way. They are loyal and hardworking, and often commit themselves to tasks and projects with the aim of being helpful to their families, friends, and communities. -personalitydesk
The ISTP just doesn’t feel the need to expose themselves fully to others. When it comes to intimate relationships, the ISTP has the further motivation of protecting themselves. Most ISTPs are afraid of having to deal with their deeper feelings. Since their Thinking preference dominates their personality, their Feeling side is their least developed (inferior) function. Consequently, ISTPs are usually quite vulnerable and perhaps weak when dealing with their feelings. -personalitypage
ISFJs are industrious caretakers, loyal to traditions and organizations. They are practical and caring, and are motivated to provide for others and protect them from the perils of life. ISFJs take their personal values seriously, and are committed to maintaining harmonious and cooperative relationships. They want stability and longevity in their connections with others, and tend to maintain a deep devotion to family. They look for people they can rely upon over the long term. -personalitydesk
ISTPs can disassemble problems and puzzles, reconstructing them in their mind to produce practical solutions. Their penchant for logic and understanding blends seamlessly with an intuitive capacity for reasoning. ISTPs are especially effective when working alone. They are better able to process data, review circumstances, and form pragmatic solutions when they’re working independently. -personalvaluatoin
ISFJs seem to often hurt silently, expecting the other person to notice this, while ISTPs may not always notice their subtle hints or understand what they have done wrong. Both might become stubborn in the situation. -personalitycafe
Although the ISTP does not usually have a well-developed Feeling side, they frequently do have intense feelings for people. They can feel overpowering love for their mates, although they are likely not to express their emotions, or to express them inadequately or inappropriately if they do venture towards expression. -personalitypage
